Committees

Below is the current make-up of the necessary committees to prepare for the Design Team Visit, as of February 21, 2007.  The first name (and usually the only name!) is the chair; please consider volunteering for chair or member of one of the following.  IF YOU ARE MISIDENTIFIED WITH AN ASSIGNMENT, PLEASE CONTACT ERIK THOMPSON, ASAP.

PLEASE DIRECT  QUESTIONS AND VOLUNTEERS TO THE APPROPRIATE CHAIR.

(The chair of the coordinating committee will be delegating aggressively, so you might as well cut him out of the loop and go directly to someone who knows something.)

1.  Coordinating Committee:  Erik Thompson 320-734-4444

Co-chair is recommended by MDT  VACANT

Some from this Committee will also be on Implementation Committee

2.  Community Action Research:  Colleen Frey 320-752-4267 and John Tanquist

collecting stuff relative to the Four Environments;  might evolve into presentations on Friday morning.  They will be working with "captains" on each of the Four Environments as follows:

2A. Natural Environment: Carol Ford  320-734-4669

2B. Social Environment: John Tanquist  320-752-4267 collecting government data.

2C. Economic Environment:  VACANT We had listed Mayor Ron in the application, but we should probably be looking for someone else to chair this and help prepare the stuff.

2D.  Cultural Environment:  Nancy Strand 320-734-4734

3. Publicity:  VACANT

We need a chair  and members; prepare press releases, kiosk flyers, website updates, radio spots?  Work with Andrea Jorgenson to get at least one article in every issue of Appleton Press between now and visit.  VERY IMPORTANT TO GET THIS ORGANIZED SOON.

4.  Documentation:  Billy Thompson (confirm before putting in phone number)

to see that events of the weekend are recorded for re-viewing later and by those who could not attend.  Especially presentations at the various times.  Any other ideas for what needs to be done in this regard?

5.  Weekend Committee:  Nancy Strand 320-734-4734

will coordinate and monitor the following subcommittees dealing with weekend logistics.

5A.  Facilities & Equipment:  Chuck Waibel 320-734-4669 with John Tanquist

Coordinate access, maintenance personnel, Audio Visual Equipment...

for meeting spaces on weekend.

    5B.  Food:  Nancy Schneck 320-734-4736

Nancy will organize a community pork chop dinner on Friday night and the meal for the team on Saturday night.  Bergen has agreed to provide lunch to the team on Saturday.  There are additional needs for snacks, etc.  Schroeders has earlier offered to provide rolls and perhaps a buffet....  So, I am not sure whether Nancy Schneck wants to take responsibility for everything or would like some help organizing the "minor" food events.

5C.  Thursday Reception:  Chris Kleven  320-734-4411, with Milan Village Arts School

5D.  Hosting:  Anne Kanten 320-734-4406 and Chris Kleven.

REMEMBER, the team is looking for ACTIVE hosts who will help them better understand Milan.  We are planning for about 20 team members.

    5E.  Childcare:  Chris Kleven  320-734-4411

    5F.  T-shirts:  Nancy Strand  320-734-4734

We will provide colored T-shirts to the Team Members to wear during the weekend,                 so folks know who they are.

5G.    Weekend Tour:  Nancy Strand 320-734-4734

5H.    Weekend presentations:  Colleen Frey 320-752-4267

Recruit (and restrain?) presenters to cram everything we want into the 3 hours available.
