Community wide brainstorming session

In anticipation of the visit from the Minnesota Design Team next month, residents of Milan and the surrounding area are invited to take part in a community wide brainstorming session this Thursday evening, February 15, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Milan City Hall.

The session, which will be facilitated by former Milan resident Patrick Moore, will focus on generating hopeful mental pictures that can guide Milan’s future growth and development. “We are living at a time when almost all the old solutions for addressing problems aren’t working anymore,” stated Moore, who was asked to facilitate the discussion by Milan’s coordinating committee for the Design Team visit.  “At this meeting, we will be using a process that gets people to think about and advance new ways of seeing ourselves as a multi-ethnic, multi-generational, globally connected, thriving small town.”

Results from the brainstorming session will be shared with members of  the Minnesota Design Team who have selected Milan for one of their  two spring visits.  The Design Team has asked the community to go  through a “SWOT” exercise whereby the community identifies its  strengths weaknesses, opportunities and threats. This brainstorming  session will do that and more, according to Moore. The Milan MOVERS  prepared the Design Team application and are actively involved in  helping the community get ready for the March 29 through 31 visit.
