Welcome to the Milan Community Center (the Milan School Building)!

The MILAN COMMUNITY CENTER is home to the Milan Community Fitness Center and the Full Circle Thrift Shop.  Click the links for more information.

The Certified Kitchen and beautifully remodeled Dining Room is available for rental for meetings, workshops, receptions, and other occasions.

The Alumni Room offers reminders of the Milan School Days featuring donated items from former students and is available for touring and can be available for Class Reunions. Additional memorabilia is always welcome. Alumni membership is $20. This should be added. GMI membership is $25.00. Donations are greatly appreciated!

The Milan Community Center ‘s Gymnasium provides “open gym” opportunities, community recreation, the annual Holiday Craft Show (held the Saturday following Thanksgiving) and is a great place for special events like the Chippewa County Historical Society’s Annual Meeting and Banquet, The Chippewa County Relay for Life Survivor Banquet, and has been beautifully transformed for the All School Prom and for a Wedding Reception.

The Milan Village Art School offers loom weaving, picture matting and other classes in the Milan Community Center in addition to their own building.

The AVCO group (Active Vikings Community Organization) has recently formed to provide opportunities for Milan Area folks to gather for cards, pool, outings, coffee and fellowship.

The Milan Sustainable Energy Utility (SEU) was developed to expand energy conservation resources available to the Greater Milan Community.  Led by a board of local business leaders, residents, an energy expert, the Milan SEU conducts outreach and educational campaigns, has implemented energy efficient upgrades, and serves as a model for other small towns across the State.  Milan SEU operates under the Greater Milan Initiative.  The Milan SEU is a 2011 Minnesota Environmental Initiative Winner.

2010 Milan All School Reunion was held at the Milan Community Center and those attending had the opportunity to tour the school, reminisce in the Alumni Room, have a catered meal in the Dining Room, attend a old fashioned Prom complete with decorations, and take in a terrific program of music provided by the Milan Community Band and special songs by the Chord Ayres.

The Greater Milan Initiative (GMI) is the 501(c)3 non-profit organization who owns the building and seeks your help to continue to offer the facility for the needs and enjoyment of Milan and the surrounding area.  GMI offers various events such as dances, health and wellness programs.

You can help assure the continued availability of the Milan Community Center for everyone’s use by attending events, becoming GMI members, becoming Milan Alumni members, volunteering in a variety of projects, and offering suggestions for additional uses, as well as passing the word to potential renters of the wide opportunities of facility space.
